As approved by the Honble Executive Chairman, Assam State Legal Services Authority, for adopting of full time Legal Aid counsels, engagement for office of the Legal Aid Defense counsel system in Kokrajhar District as per scheme of National Legal services Authority (NALSA) for providing full time engagement of lawyers for free legal services for the beneficiaries under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, dealing exclusively with legal aid work in criminal matters at every stage starting from the pre-arrest, arrest & remand stage to the conclusion of trials and appeals etc., applications are invited from the intending lawyers in the approved application form (enclosed with the advertisement) for filling up the following post under the establishment of the District Legal services Authority, Kokrajhar as shown below:

Qualifications:
- Practice in criminal law from 0 to 3 years.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of ethical duties of defense counsel.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others.
- Excellent writing and research skills.
- IT Knowledge with high proficiency in work.

Honorarium (Retainer Fees & Salaries)
Rs. 20,000/- to Rs. 35,000/- (Exact amount to be flnalized within aforementioned limit, later on)

Terms and Conditions:
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen as defined in Articles 5 to 8 0f the constitution of India.
- The appointments shall be purely temporary and on contract basis and doesnt entitle the person to be regularized in Govt. Service.
- The Lawyers engaged therein not allowed for taking any private cases or any other retainer ship.
- After expiry of the contract period of 1 year maximum, the contractual agreement automatically stand terminated unless renewed by competent authority. Candidates already in service should apply through proper channel.
- The service maybe extended after appropriate break in service, subject to the approval of the Hon’ble Executive chairman, Assam state Legal services Authority, Guwahati.
- Duly filled applications on application form (which is enclosed herewith) alongwith self attested photocopies of all the relevant testimonials and 02(two) copies of recent passport size photographs should be addressed to the Secretary’ District Legal Services Authority, Kokrajhar. The name of the post should clearly be mentioned at the top of the envelope, providing of contact number with email ID is compulsory.
- Application must reach the undersigned on or before 20.10.2025 up to 04:30 PM. No application will be entertained after the last date fixed.
- The number of posts available as mentioned in the advertisement may vary as per decision of the Selection Committee.
- Applications received after the last date of submission Will be rejected. The undersigned shall not be responsible for any postal delay.
- Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected without assigning any reasons.
- Theundersignedreservestherighttocanceltheadvertisementandtomodifyanyterms and conditions mentioned in the advertisement.
- List of eligible lawyers, date, time, venue and mode for conducting the selecting procedure will be published in the official website of District Judiciary, Kokrajhar.
- The full details of the qualification, nature of work profile, service period, code of ethics and other service related aspects can be perused from the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System Scheme which is available in the office website of the District Judiciary’ Kokrajhar.
