A. ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) was established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to enhance the capacity within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and other agencies and provide legal and technical inputs on international trade and investment law issues. CTIL functions as a think tank and an advisory centre in relation to legal issues falling under the World Trade Organisation (WTO), free trade agreements, and other international economic law issues.
CTIL intends to engage 04 lawyers (02 Associates, 02 Young Professionals), to work on trade-related issues across multilateral agreements and bilateral agreements (including Trade in Goods; Trade in Services; Trade and Sustainable Development; Intellectual Property Rights, Geographical Indications, innovation, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; Trade Remedies and Dispute Settlement; Regulatory Practices, Competition, Government Procurement, Anti-Corruption, Transparency, etc.; Rules of Origin, Trade Facilitation, and Non-Tariff measures; Investment Protection; and Agriculture).
B. VACANCY
CTIL is looking for highly motivated, qualified lawyers, to join immediately, on a contractual basis in the position of:
1. Young Professional.
2. Associate
The candidate must meet the eligibility criteria listed in Part C and D of this notification.
C. GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates must be Indian nationals and should preferably hold a master’s degree in law. [For the candidates having degrees from universities/institutes from outside India, Times/QS ranking of such universities/institutes will be taken into account]
Candidate must have excellent legal professional skills, with a demonstrated interest and/or experience in international law, international trade law, investment law, and related fields listed in Part A.
Candidate must also have strong written and spoken communication, and presentation skills in English.
Candidate must be able to provide sound and rigorous legal analysis, and must also have strong research, drafting and legal analytical skills, specifically in the fields listed in Part A.
Strong preference will be given to candidates who have experience in trade negotiations and settlement of international trade disputes.
Candidate should also satisfy the specific eligibility criteria listed in Part D, in addition to the above.
PQE in Part D refers to Post Qualification Experience, i.e., work experience that has been obtained following the candidate’s successful completion of a degree in law.
Experience includes up to three years for Ph.D. holder, provided that no work experience is counted during those three years. Experience in international negotiations, dispute settlement processes, and any of the listed areas in Part A is desirable.
D. CATEGORY SPECIFIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Young Professionals
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA –Â
• Must not be more than 35 years of age at the time of recruitment.
• Must hold a master’s degree in law. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) at bachelor’s and master’s levels.
• Must have a minimum of 1-year post-qualification experience.
• Relevant work experience or research and studies produced in international trade, economic diplomacy, international law, investment, public policy, or a related discipline is desirable.
Or
• Must not be more than 28 years of age at the time of recruitment.
• Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a Master’s degree in economics, diplomacy, international relations, public policy, data science, general management, cost accounting or a related discipline from (a) a University listed in the top 25 ranks of the latest National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), or (b) from a reputed University or a discipline within a University listed in the top 100 ranks of a recognized World University Ranking, for example, the latest QS World University Ranking or the Times Higher Education Ranking.
• Prior work experience is not a requirement.

• Must hold a master’s degree in law. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) at bachelor’s and master’s levels.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years post- qualification experience, out of which a minimum of 1 year must be in the relevant field, for example, international trade and allied field.
• Relevant work experience or research and studies produced in international trade, economic, economic diplomacy, international law, investment, public policy, or a related discipline is desirable.
