National Convention on Women in India 2025: A Landmark Gathering at O.P. Jindal Global University

From March 8th to 10th, 2025, O.P. Jindal Global University hosted the National Convention on Women in India, commemorating International Women’s Day 2025 with an inspiring assembly of leaders, policymakers, and changemakers from diverse fields.

The convention featured over 22 thought-provoking sessions, delving into critical issues such as climate change, media, education, administration, and politics. Distinguished speakers, including Women Members of Rajya Sabha – Ms. Priyanka Chaturvedi, Ms. S. Phangnon Konyak, and Dr. Fauzia Khan – shared their insights on women’s empowerment and policy reform.

A compelling session on domestic violence addressed legal and administrative challenges, with Ms. Prabina Prem, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Haryana, and Dr. Rakesh Minhas, IAS, District Collector, Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, offering valuable perspectives on law enforcement and victim support mechanisms.

The convention also spotlighted women in sports, featuring Dr. Babita Bamal, Former Captain, Indian Football Team; Ms. Pritam Rani Siwach, Former Captain, Indian Hockey Team; and Ms. Meeta Bhardwaj, Assistant Director, Sports Authority of India. Their discussions highlighted the challenges and triumphs of women athletes in India.

Beyond panel discussions, the event fostered engagement through debates, cultural performances, and interactive fireside chats, creating a vibrant platform for dialogue and action.

More than just a celebration, this convention marked a significant step toward a more just, inclusive, and empowered future for women in India.
