Applications are invited for engagement of twenty-two (22) Associates (Legal) in the Policy & Law Division of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change on payment of a consolidated monthly remuneration ranging from ₹40,000/- to ₹1,00,000/- to assist the various Divisions in the Ministry in handling all legal cases and matters related thereto.
In case of increase in number of vacancies, the increased vacancies shall be filled up from the reserve/ wait-list candidates.
The engagement of Associates (Legal) is of a temporary (non-official) nature and can be cancelled at any time by the Ministry, without assigning any reason.
MoEF&CC shall have powers to terminate any or all the Associates (Legal) at any time without assigning any reason(s), with the approval of the competent authority. Absence from duty for a continuous period of eight (08) days, without any information or any valid reason shall lead to automatic termination of contractual engagement.
The posts are as follows:
1. Associate (Legal) – A
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than one (1) year and upto two (2) years.
2. Associate (Legal) – B
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than two (2) years and upto three (3) years.
3. Associate (Legal) – C
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than three (3) years and upto four (4) years.
4. Associate (Legal) – D
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than four (4) years and upto five (5) years.
Or
Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than one (1) year.
5. Associate (Legal) – E
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than five (5) years and upto six (6) years.
Or
Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than two (2) years.

 6. Associate (Legal) – F
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than six (6) years and upto seven (7) years.
Or
Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than three (3) years.
7. Associate (Legal) – G
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than seven (7) years.
Or
Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) from a recognized University and/ or Institute in India, recognized by the Bar Council of India and having experience of more than four (4) years.
- The Associates (Legal) already working in the Ministry may apply afresh for any higher position(s). They shall have to go through the same recruitment process as of a fresh outside candidate. However, the Consultancy Evaluation Committee (CEC) constituted to shortlist/ recommend the suitable candidates for engagement, may consider to give preference to them for higher category(s) of Associate (Legal) viz. ‘D’, ‘E’, ‘F’ or ‘G’, as the case may be, keeping in view their performance and contribution to the Ministry, for which, the CEC will adopt a uniformed and transparent criteria and examine each of the case on its merit. The Associates (Legal) already working in the Ministry have gained valuable experience with respect to various aspects of Environmental Laws and other legal issues arising therefrom over the last three years and that they have developed some institutional memory of the Ministry.
- Currently, it is intended to engage 12 Associate (Legal) in Category ‘G’, 2 in Category ‘F’ and rest 7 in other lower categories. Besides, 1 (One) position at level ‘F’ or ‘G’ will be filled up for NA-CAMPA. The positions may vary subsequent to this Advertisement. Further, if a better candidate is found in the lower categories at the time of personal interaction before the Interview Board/ Consultancy Evaluation Committee (CEC), then that candidate will be preferred to be engaged.
