Applications are invited from Indian citizens meeting the requisite qualifications and eligibility criteria for engagement as Law Researcher (01 Post) and for preparing a panel of Law Researchers in the Armed Forces Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi.

1. Essential Qualifications:
(i) Educational Qualification:
Law graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law including Integrated Law Degree) securing a minimum of 50% marks from a college/university estabilished by law in India and recognised by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an Advocate.

b) Preference will be given to candidates holding an LL.M Degree.

(ii) Technical Skills:
Proficiency in retrieving information from legal research platforms
like SCC Online, Manupatra, etc.

Age Limit:
Candidates must be between 23 and 35 years of age as of the last date
of receipt of applications.

Selection Process:

The selection will be conducted through an interview/ interaction by the Hon’ble Chairperson or a designated Committee. If the number of applications is large, a written examination may also be conducted.

Duties and Functions:
Law Researchers will assist the Hon’ble Chairperson or Members of the
Tribunal in:
(i) Attending court hearings and noting significant points as required.
(ii) Conducting research work to assist the Chairperson/Member.
(iii) Performing other judicial/legal work as assigned.

Terms of Engagement:
(1) The engagement is on a purely short-term contractual basis for an initial period of one year, extendable up to four years. Exceptional performance may warrant further extension.
(ii) The engagement is non-regular and does not confer any rights to claim regular appointment or continued service in the Tribunal.
(iii) The engagement is full-time and may require work during odd hours and holidays, including attendance at the Hon’ble Chairperson’s or Member’s office/residence.
(iv) Practicing as an Advocate during the tenure is strictly prohibited.
(v) Law Researchers resigning before the completion of their term must provide one month’s prior notice.
(vi) A formal dress code, as per Bar Council of India Rules, must be followed.
(vii) The Tribunal reserves the right to terminate the engagement of a Law Researcher before the expiry of the term of engagement without any notice.


Remuneration

Law Researcher shall be paid consolidated fixed monthly remuneration as mentioned below:-
(i) 1st Year (Initial appointment) – Rs 60,000/- per month
(ii) 2nd Year – Rs 65,000/- per month
(iii) 3rd Year and maximum up to – Rs 70,000/- per month (However, discretion will be with the competent authority to decide the remuneration as mentioned above of the selected candidates, according to merit and experience in the Armed Forces Tribunal or similar institutions.)


The eligible candidates are advised to download the application form from the website of the Tribunal – www.aftdelhi.nic.in and submit the same in hard copy to the Principal Registrar, Armed Forces Tribunal (Principal Bench), West Block VIII, Sector I, R.K Puram, New Delhi- 110066, super scribing on the envelope ‘Engagement of Law Researcher’, by email/ post/by hand along with copies of necessary documents duly self attested by the candidate, on or before 17th January, 2025 (Friday) till 05:30p.m.).

If eligible, they will be called for interview as and when requirement arises at the Tribunal. Original testimonials need not be enclosed. The originals shall, however, be required to be produced at the time of interview/interaction. The Principal Registrar of the Armed Forces Tribunal, Principal Bench, reserves the right to cancel/vary the vacancies, without assigning any reasons thereof.
